Inosine and Degenerate Oligos

Inosine

2-deoxyInosine can be added in place of any base to combat the effects of degeneracy in the the genetic code. This reagent exhibits lower, but unequal hydrogen bonding to the other four bases.

Degenerate Oligos

In addition, oligos can be ordered with any combination of degeneracies at no extra charge. The degenerate nucleotide alphabet is:

R

S

Y
